This year I had the pleasure of attending some races that the mitten state just wouldn’t allow happen due to its screwy weather. I had made my way with the Ruhl racing team to Selinsgrove Speedway deep in the heart of Pennsylvania for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint season opener. Tony Stewart showed up, Terry Stewart showed up and a lot of great race action went down.

Downtown Battle Creek was treated to the third stop of the Midwest Indoor Racing Series 2013 Winter Racing Season. Multiple classes of cars took to the 1/10  mile concrete oval of the Kellogg Arana in front of a packed house. These are just a few images I shot over the course of the evening. The Kellogg Arena came through with bringing another great show to Mid-Michigan. Downtown Battle Creek came alive as P.O.D opened up for Three Days Grace and Shinedown. The past twelve months have been amazing. I have spent a great deal of time traveling and meeting new friends. So basically this is just a recap of all that was Chad Ruhl this past year.

I was going to include a photo galley of my favorite photos from this past year but I’ll just leave you with just one. I over looked this photo so many times. The trick wasn’t a banger but there was just something about it. Have a happy New Year.

Sometimes you just have to shoot and edit a music video. This video was filmed and edited years ago with Al Lassen and Tony Hogrefe featuring Stacy Koviak. We filmed with three different cameras during two takes with one studio session for the close ups and tied it all together in Final Cut Pro.

Every so often I’ll shoot a concert. These are a few images that caught my eye from the Battle Creek stop of the 2012 Mass Chaos tour. I would like to thank everyone at The Kellogg Arena for having such a great venue and bringing great acts to Battle Creek.

Not to long ago I had a post on my supreme act of laziness in which rather than drive back home to get a battery charger for my DSLR I just left town one camera bag lighter and used my iPhone and Instagram to share images of my excursions. That post got me to thinking. The ease and convenience of traveling light was great but the ease and convenience of being able to post a photo on Instagram was great for a quick visual record of my travels. So I thought what other trips had I been on and what photos did I share from that trip on Instagram. I had just recently been out in Albuquerque and I shared a bunch of photo from my DSLR with you the reader. Now sure you may never peep in on my Instgram and I’m guilty of just forgetting about any photo posted on there but today is more of an inside look at what I may take photos of when I feel like making a quick share with Instagram.
